Why Sweet Almond Oil:

“In a study by Sultana et al. done with murine models, topical almond oil was shown to prevent the structural damage caused by UV irradiation [107].”...”When applied topically, constituents of plant oils (triglycerides, phospholipids, FFAs, phenolic compounds and antioxidants) may act synergistically by several mechanisms: (i) promoting skin barrier homeostasis; (ii) antioxidative activities; (iii) anti-inflammatory properties; (iv) direct and indirect (upregulation of antimicrobial peptides) anti-microbial properties; (v) promoting wound healing; and (vi) anti-carcinogenic properties.”Retrieved from https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5796020/

Why Greater Burdock:

Burdock has been known to have anti-wrinkle properties .

“The inhibition of skin elastase and tyrosinase serves a key role in the antiwrinkle and skin-evening activities (4,7,33). Antioxidant polyphenols possess tyrosinase and elastase inhibitory activity (4,36,39). In the current study, the extract from burdock leaves with antioxidant polyphenols inhibited elastase and tyrosinase activity, with their antielastase activity being stronger compared with their antityrosinase activity, which can be explained using the ROS scavenging theory of skin aging (40). These results indicate that the antiwrinkle activity of burdock leaves may be more effective than its skin-evening activity.”Retrieved from https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5585880/

Why cinnamon...

“Several studies on medicinal plants and their components have indicated the anti-inflammatory activities of cinnamon [76–81]. “Retrieved from https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4003790/

Why cloves...

SA is know as Clove. “Syzygium aromaticum L., commonly named clove,”... “The histopathological studies found that SA reduced wrinkles. SA also increased filament aggregating protein (filaggrin), which repairs the skin barrier function and improved the skin's hydration. Altogether, SA effectively ameliorated UVB-induced photoaging. It is expected to become a promising natural product.”Retrieved from https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30178790/

Why ginger...

“Ginger appears to exert anti-inflammatory effects by suppressing COX-2 with subsequent inhibition of prostaglandin and leukotriene biosynthesis.”Retrieved from https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books/NBK92775/

Why chamomile...

“A study in human volunteers demonstrated that chamomile flavonoids and essential oils penetrate below the skin surface into the deeper skin layers (37). This is important for their use as topical antiphlogistic (anti-inflammatory) agents. One of chamomile’s anti-inflammatory activities involve the inhibition of LPS-induced prostaglandin E(2) release and attenuation of cyclooxygenase (COX-2) enzyme activity without affecting the constitutive form, COX-1 (38).”Retrieved from https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2995283/

Why green tea...

“Green tea was also able to prevent the rise of fluorescent markers of collagen aging.”Retrieved from https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3561737/

“Participants treated with a combination regimen of topical and oral green tea showed histologic improvement in elastic tissue content.”Retrieved from https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/16029678/

My skin is naturally sensitive to the more natural skin care products, especially with essential oils. I have been using the velvet wise serum for a couple weeks and love it. My skin is so soft and has a healthy glow without breaking out at all. It smells amazing and is great for my combination skin. I look forward to trying some other products.”
